I am Lindsey White.
I live and work and play in Winnipeg, Manitoba. I have a blue guitar, a black computer, green eyes, a white piano and an orange car, which I park behind the pink and orange house where I live. I am the only Lindsey White of my kind and today I am a completely different Lindsey White than I've ever been before.
I write music. I play music. And because I love music, I'm always looking for creative ways to incorporate it into my daily life. I perform, promote, record and share music; as well as listening, discussing, writing and playing with anyone who is willing. I have been honoured and grateful to play and sing on many great recordings by other local artists and jam with some of Winnipeg's grooviest musicians. I’ve also been invited to perform at house concerts, open mics, private parties, restaurants, special events and weddings (which are always a fun time).
I love participating in workshops and studio sessions with my band, which consists of some extremely talented guys: Alasdair Dunlop (bass), Mitch Dorge (drums) and Joe Curtis (guitar). Right now, we’re working on a new album called "Renegade" that has been in progress for several years. We’ve recently launched an online funding project to help us get it off the ground an into the world’s ears.
(I like to refer to it as a "gratitude program"... check it out at
renegade.lindseywhite.com)
When it’s finished, I plan to share it with the world - both over the internet and in person. Although it might take a while, I’m more convinced than ever that a good thing is worth the wait.
In the mean time, I'm thoroughly enjoying facilitating some drop-in music programs at the West End Cultural Center ("Tune In" keyboard sessions) and Children of the Earth High School, where I also serve as a part-time Career Advisor.
Earlier this year, I co-facilitated the Winnipeg Folk Festival's Musical Mentorship Program along with Jason Burnstick. We helped some talented young people write a cool new song called "Be Who You Wanna Be", which was recorded at CBC Studios.
I’ve played, sang and written music with many other talented young people within the YMCA, through other school-age and preschool programs and also at an awesome youth drop-in centre in Winnipeg’s inner-city called "Rossbrook House". I love connecting music with young people and am always searching for more opportunities to do so. For this reason, I recently developed my own programming called "Play & Sing with Lindsey White" which has been growing increasingly popular with all sorts of different educational centers.
I appreciate every single person who understands that none of the above defines who I am and loves me anyway. Cheers to you, my fellow renegades.
Thanks for listening.
:)
